About Nicole Crump, LCSW-R
Hello! I am Nicole Crump, LCSW-R
My expertise is not just from clinical training only. It came from my own life. Through my own experience of emotional disconnection. I understand how it feels to function perfectly on the surface while something underneath feels broken. Numb. Restlessness.
Repeated thoughts of “not feeling good enough”, “feeling too needy”, or “hard to love”.
That personal understanding is not separate from my clinical work. It's the foundation of it.
I've spent 25 years in this field and 16 years in private practice in Rochester, NY. In that time, I've sat with individuals and couples at the hardest points of their lives — and I've learned that most people don't need someone to fix them. They need someone who can finally help them figure out what they actually need.
Nicole’s personal life story:
When I was 16 years old, my father died suddenly from a massive heart attack. I lost a sense of safety and security. The grief was more than I could handle. Unknowingly, I dissociated because my mind needed to create distance from what my body was experiencing. Survival mode became automatic. Disconnecting was safer than feeling the pain.
As an adult, I learned my father’s death became an integral part of my emotional blueprint. It was the origin of my people-pleasing. It was the defining moment for my attachment issues. It was the root for my anxiety and fears.
The lesson wasn't simply that people leave. It was that the people you love can disappear—and you have no control over it.
I dedicated my life to this emotional journey. I learned to hold people through their deepest pain. I mapped how their past shaped the heavy shame they carried. I connected their relationship histories to the negative stories they believed about themselves. I created frameworks that finally gave people permission to grieve. And the tools to release what no longer served them.
Nicole Crump, LCSW-R approach to couples therapy, sex therapy, and individual therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy
The most research-supported approach for couples counseling. Built on the understanding that our deepest need is to feel safe and emotionally connected — and when that breaks down, everything else follows.
Sex & Intimacy Therapy
Certified and deeply experienced in this work. Intimacy concerns are almost always emotional concerns — and I treat them that way, with complete honesty and zero judgment.
Attachment & Relationship Patterns
Understanding the emotional blueprint of how your early relationships shaped you. And how it's showing up in your life and relationships today.
This is where the real work lives.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trained in complex trauma and trauma-focused approaches. Learning how to heal from the pain. Healing begins when you stop carrying alone.
Family Systems
You don't exist in isolation. The family system you grew up in shaped you in ways you may not even be aware of (yet). Understanding the impact of your family dynamics is often the key to understanding yourself.
Long-Term, Honest Work
I don't promise quick fixes. I promise our work together will address your core beliefs about yourself. My clients don't come to me for coping skills. They come to actual transformation.
